Shannon O’Hara passed away on January 6, 2012 at the age of 13 after a nine month battle against an inoperable brain tumor.
Her greatest passion in life was hockey. She participated in Rochester Youth Hockey from 2008 until her death. She skated for the last time on December 4, 2011 and passed away just 33 days later. Shannon always loved going to the rink and being with her teammates.
In her memory, and in conjunction with the Rochester (MN) Youth Hockey Association, the O’Hara family has set up a charitable account to help fund scholarships for higher education.
Each year, we will be awarding two (2) $2000 scholarships (one boy, one girl) to seniors graduating from a Rochester high school who participated in RYHA. Winners of the scholarship will be selected by our scholarship committee.
